Shows

We've played a total of 74 shows so far, and 17 this year

December 29, 2006
Brenner's Brew, Bridgeton, NJ
Band lineup: Bret
Other bands: Genitals Chicken, Don Fransko
It was a night of solo-acts. Frank and Justin were unavailable for this show so Bret went and played it acoustic. As did Mike Britt of Genitals Chicken and Don Fransko of, er, Don Fransko. Everyone had a good time despite the fact that Bret butchered "Good Riddance (Time of your Life)." Whatever. What part of "We suck" don't you understand?

December 2, 2006
The Arena, Philadelphia, PA
Band lineup: Bret, Justin, Frank
Other bands: None
We played two sets on this night, the first time a new promoter was running the show at The Arena. We had a good time but we lost a lot of our fans from a boycott (apparently the old promoter left on less than favorable terms). We appreciate the support of the fans who did show up to support us. We know you enjoyed the show (-:

November 24, 2006
Brenner's Brew, Bridgeton, NJ
Band lineup: Bret, Justin, Frank
Other bands: A bunch of acoustic solo acts, including emo Ukulele. I don't know their names
Do the math. We've played 72 shows overall and 25 of them at Brenner's. That means we play one show at Brenner's for every two we play elsewhere. What can I say, it's our favorite place to play. Oh, and Jodi was there.

September 30, 2006
The Boiler Room, Philadelphia, PA
Band lineup: Bret, Justin, Frank
Other bands: Tube Disasters, The East Infections, Dirty Sanchez and the Teabaggers
Our 71st show, and guess what? Best Fuk'n show EVER!!! Justin finally made it to the Boiler Room, just in time for this show. We let Dirty Sanchez and the Teabaggers open for us, and then it was on. After our set, when we were all sweaty and wiped out, the crowd started chanting "One more song! One more song! One more song!" So we obliged them. With five encores. They wouldn't let us go. Great venue, great crowd, great googly-moogly what a great fucking show.
Videos from the show: Nocturnal Emissions, Mandy & Duality, One More Song! (Good Clean Fun, Pretty Pretty Girls, Sandy Hill) August 24, 2006
Jodi's Birthday Party, Millville, NJ
Band lineup: Bret, Justin, Frank
Other bands: None
Did I mention we love playing private parties? Jodi is one of our biggest fans, and comes to every single one of our Brenner's shows, so when she asked us to play at her 15th birthday party, we couldn't say no. We also provided the birthday girl with a one-of-a-kind shirt with the "Max the Dork" logo on the front, and on the back the words "Yes, I'm that Jodi," a reference to the song we wrote about the outspoken girl called "Fudge, Packer?" A good time was had by all, especially the dog. Nuff said.

August 18, 2006
The Bridgewater Pub, Bridgeton, NJ
Band lineup: Bret, Justin, Frank
Other bands: In the Raw
Well, it's our second time playing the Bridgewater in as many weeks. I got my Uke on four songs into the set, singing "Happy Happy Joy Joy" with my new Lanikai acoustic/electric concert soprano ukulele. You know, the LU21CE. You know you want one.

August 15, 2006
The Boiler Room, Philadelphia, PA
Band lineup: Bret, Frank
Other bands: Something in the Water, Nomad Fool, Heartfelt Dischord
First time playing the Boiler Room and wouldn't you know, it was full of drama and difficulties. Nothing that made the show less enjoyable, mind you, but first Justin got lost in Center City and never made it to the show, so Frank and I had to rock it White Stripes sytle. We had fun, it's an awesome venue, one of our favorites now. Thanks to Mike and the guys from Something in the Water for inviting us to play! (-:

August 4, 2006
The Bridgewater Pub, Bridgeton, NJ
Band lineup: Bret, Justin, Frank
Other bands: In the Raw
It's been over three years since we last played the Bridgewater, but it won't be so long until the next time; they asked us to come back two weeks later. Go figure. We also played with In the Raw, a really good metal band who features Mike Bellopede on guitar. Mike's a good friend of Bret's. He's also Bret's ex-wife's husband. Creepy.

June 24, 2006
The Bus Stop Music Cafe, Pitman, NJ
Band lineup: Bret, Justin, Frank
Other bands: Slobbergun, Genital's Chicken
It's always fun to play your hometown. We haven't played in Pitman since last year's Rock for the Cure benefit at the First Presbyterian Church. Hopefully we'll be doing more shows at the Bus Stop, and hopefully it'll grow into a tremendous All-ages venue. It's certainly well on its way to being one of the top all-ages venues in South Jersey. And it's right here in Pitman (-:

May 13th, 2006
The Spot, Philadelphia, PA
Band lineup: Bret, Justin, Frank
Other bands: Mourning Electra, The Divide, Orphan
Pat from Mourning Electra is trying to get something started with The Spot, and awesome venue right next to Greaterford Prison in Holmesburg, PA. A fun show, a great venue, and a bunch of really good bands made this a night to remember.

April 28th, 2006
Brenner's Brew, Bridgeton, NJ
Band lineup: Bret, Justin, Frank
Other bands: The Essentials
An intimate gathering to be sure, we went on after The Essentials, a band fronted by a guy that Bret's wife works with (Art). Barbara said she's been trying to get this show together for a while. I guess it finally happened (-:

April 21st, 2006
The Arena, Philadelphia, PA
Band lineup: Bret, Justin, Frank
Other bands: Alien Escape, Genital's Chicken
God, three shows at The Arena. What can you say? We did a brief intro with a Rocky theme (Justin coming in as Apollo Creed and Frank as Rocky Balboa, plus yours truly as Mickey). It's Frank's doing, these intros. It's our way of telling people, Hey, we're just in it for the fun (-:

April 7th, 2006
The Arena, Philadelphia, PA
Band lineup: Bret, Justin, Frank
Other bands: Blind Red, Alien Escape
Another tremendous show at The Arena. We love playing there. Since it was only three bands, we expanded our setlist to 14 songs and then kept playing whatever came to mind for another half hour afterward. It was a lot of fun being back at where we met Frank. Good times. Oh, and our James Bond intro went over well. 3-D glasses and all.

March 5th, 2006
Valley Billiards, Jenkintown, PA
Band lineup: Bret, Justin, Frank
Other bands: Something in the Water
This is, without a doubt, our LATEST show ever (or our earliest, however you want to look at it). We went on first. At 2 AM! Because it was 2 AM, we consider this show to be March 5th, even though it was billed as March 4th. The sun was coming up by the time we got home. Rock and fucking roll. BTW, Something in the Water is another project featuring Mike of Alien Escape. Just figured I'd throw that in there.

February 26th, 2006
The Stone Pony, Asbury Park, NJ
Band Lineup: Bret, Justin, Frank
Other bands: Too numerous to mention
Well, the performance was supposed to be part of the Break Contest, but we didn't sell enough tickets so we didn't get judged. Which is just as well; Justin broke one of his bass strings during the opening song and spent the rest of the night trying to play all our songs on three strings. Oh well, we suck and we know it. People keep telling us no, but we keep proving them wrong! (-:

February 24th, 2006
Brenner's Brew, Bridgeton, NJ
Band Lineup: Bret, Justin, Frank
Other bands: Showin' Tell, Alien 8
Our 23rd time at The Brew, and we decided to show the guys from Alien 8 some love by booking them a show in Jersey. After all, they got us the gig in Philly that ultimately put us together with our new drummer. That's right, Frank Colburn made his MtD debut tonight, and it was AWESOME in every respect. Plus, we debuted two new songs, Duality and Fudge, Packer? The latter is a song about a girl who gives us shit at Brenner's Brew, and it mentions the Brew a few times so it's only fitting that we broke it out here.

January 21st, 2006
The Arena, Philadelphia, PA
Band lineup: Bret, Justin, Siren
Other bands: Alien 8, Inbred, NOP73HS, Mourning Electra
What an awesome show. We got to play with our pals from Emergenza, Alien 8, as well as some local legends that we love, NOP73HS and Mourning Electra. Plus we got to meet another band called Orphan. It was a HUGE show, and one we definitely won't forget anytime soon. Plus, Alien 8's bassist introduced us to a guy named Frank Colburn, who became our drummer. All in all it was an historic performance. Oh, and later I found out my boss's son is the drummer of Inbred. Small world.
