It seems like forever since the last issue. But it's only been 16 days. Can you believe it? I think from now on I'm gonna try to put the newsletter out every other week.
Ground Floor and Pirate's Den Reviews
I'm not going to take up a lot of space in the newsletter reviewing the three shows since the last issue. You can check out the reviews on our
News Page. Also, there's pictures from both Ground Floor shows on our
Pictures Page. And if you were at any of these shows, feel free to comment on them on our
Message Board.
Radio Appearance: Thursday, March 18th
This Thursday, Bret will be in the
WGLS radio studio for a live on-air interview and acoustic performance. The show starts at 9:00 PM Eastern time, and if you live in South Jersey you can tune in to 89.7 FM to listen. Or, you can go to the radio station's website and click the link that says "Listen on the Internet" to listen, erm, on the Internet. You'll need Real Player to get the live stream. Also, we'll be posting audio clips from the show this weekend on our
Downloads Page.
Next Show: The Ground Floor
Yes, we've been playing
The Ground Floor a lot lately. The fact of the matter is, Bob from The Ground Floor liked our March 7th show so much, he asked us to come back every Sunday for the next couple of months. Well, we've booked every Sunday in March, but none in April yet because we're not sure what our recording schedule is going to be. That is, what bands we'll be recording at
Lake Studios. We have one band scheduled for the entire first weekend in April, but it looks like the rest of the Sundays in April will be available. So if we book them, we'll let you know.
But these shows at The Ground Floor have been fun. It's like a basement show, but with a stage and a bar and a pool table. It's a really cool place to play, and a cool place to catch a show. So if you happen to be in the Newark, DE, area, come and check it out. We'll save a seat for you. And make sure you get one of their burgers. They're cheap and they taste fucking awesome.
Wet Dreams EP
We've recorded, mixed, and mastered the next EP, which is titled
Wet Dreams and Other Delights. The master has been sent to be pressed, and last I checked the projected ship date is March 19th (Friday). So look for the EP at shows shortly. We'll be selling them for $2 each, and of course, we'll package them with some freebies. Also, you can listen to our new recording of
DWI right now. It's posted on the
Lake Studios Page as an example of our recording work.
401 Records Goes Dot-Com
Yep, 401 Records is no longer a subdirectory off of the Max the Dork website. As of March 11th, 401 Records is now at
http://www.401records.com. What does this mean to you? Not much. I just thought I'd mention it. And anyway, it's easier to remember.
By the way, 401 Records is up to 22 bands on the label, and the number of local bands from South Jersey, Philadelphia, Delaware and Maryland is growing. And a lot of people are starting to sit up and take notice of this little upstart record label that first saw life as our own DIY label. Who knows, someday the name 401 Records may be synonymous with
Alternative Tentacles, which was formed by the Dead Kennedys.
Or not. Whatever. (-;
